1. Donny is not here for Shabbos. Well, he hasn't been here all week. He was in Seattle for work starting Sunday, flew to Newark last night, and is with friends in Teaneck for Shabbos. So he's closer to being home. He will God willing be on that midnight flight home come Saturday night, which brings him back to us Sunday afternoon. (From Seattle, he has to take a Sunday morning flight, which doesn't get in until Monday afternoon. Blech.)
2. The point of #1 is to get to #2, and mention the irony that it is Friday afternoon and I have time to blog. Because, of course, when Donny is not here, and I'm doing all the Shabbos prep alone, I manage to finish it two hours early. When he is here, we take our leisurely time, shmoozing, checking email, eating rugelach, until the Moment of Panic around 30 minutes before Shabbos, when we realize the blech (different blech from the one above) isn't set up, we haven't showered, the table's a mess, and Yaakov is in the midst of an Illegal Nap and must be awakened post haste.
3. Ariella learned about Yitzchak Rabin this week. She told me that he was killed "when they threw kadurim at his back." Sheesh. Heblish strikes again.
4. My sister Leezy is also joining us for Shabbos with her kids, because her husband is in America as well. We have grand plans of partying and drinking all night. More likely we'll be passed out and snoring by 8:00. Thanks to DADZ, though, we have plenty of People and Entertainment Weekly to keep us busy.
5. Confession: I have never seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show. (Insert gasps of shock here.) Will I totally not be able to understand this week's Glee episode? And why can't they do a take on something I'm more familiar with, like "Thomas the Tank Engine" (there are some very jaunty songs in those movies!) or "Bais Yaakov Production 1995?"
Have a Shabbat Shalom, folks!

Neither have I. I hope I enjoy this week's episode. I would be happy to help them with the BY Production 1995 take-off, being as I was the concert head, and all that. Hmm...maybe I can use some of my connections.
Shabbat Shalom!
Illegal Nap? What's his punishment? Does he have a good lawyer?
I've never seen it either, but whenever people talk about it, I pretend like I have because I feel like such a loser. I do know Time-Warp because my non-loser friends were always singing it.
And I'm also a former Bais Yaakov girl. But they never let me do Production, even though I sing really well. Something about "disruptive behavior". Watching a show like Glee is my revenge.
Enjoy the sister time with Leezy. With regard to your comment on the previous post, maybe your brother could give the "haskama" to the sefer. Also,I would go with something more believable like "memorized shas by his Bar Mitzvah."
I say we stage our own aliyahbyaccident version of a Bais Yaakov Production. Sara, you direct, Baila, you sing, and I will do what those of us do who can neither sing nor dance - act.
We should be sure to include a play in which someone is saved by saying "Shema" at the last second, a song from Miami Boys, and dance moves that go: Right hand in the air, left hand in the air, right hand down by your side, left hand down by your side.
It'll totally rock.
wish you could "like" on blogger. gila i "like" that last one.
hmm ive seen rocky horror (but i saw it in tel aviv so i dont know if it counts) but ive never seen a bais yaakov production or glee. does that make me a loser or just old? and can i come to your production? you need an audience and i can hold nadav (but im not offering him my toes. thats probably what seperates the Loyal readers and the loyal readers)
I saw RHPS on video small-screen at my friend's bachelorette party (there were 5 of us... I'm not sure it counts... but dammit, Janet...)
Gils, regarding your production, please don't forget the cheap junk pink satin sashes that you wear with your white shirt and black skirt. Also, regarding choreography, please include my favorite - turn around and DON'T SWING THOSE HIPS. Thank you. I promise to come and cry with pride at my daughter. And I will keep the rabbi principals out.
Love it.
I always wondered how come we did tunes to English songs at those productions. Obviously someone had to be listening to the music if they knew the tunes.
Problem is I wondered that out loud, hence the label "disruptive".
See, Leah, it counts, because you are able to make a RHPS joke. Baila and Sara and I, sadly, cannot.
f/e - you can totally come and watch Nadav during our big production. Will your thumb be available, though?
Thanks Bethami!
Baila - we once had a dance that was choreographed to the tune of the beginning of ER. Since there were no words, and the Powers that Be'd never saw the show, it got by.
I remember when that dance was done to the theme from ER. I loved it, and was so happy it was in there.
Hahahaha, blech!
